All About that Face: Keeping your Skin Fresh and Hydrated

Today we are going to touch on skin care. I’m sure we all know that flawless skin usually coincides with flawless makeup application. My skin is labeled as acne prone a.k.a I get random pimples and breakouts every now and then. It’s always been a semi struggle trying to find skin care that works well with my sensitive skin but that also isn’t too harsh. I have learned that using products w/o any medicine (salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide) works best for me. When I’ve used products with these chemicals in the past, I got temporary satisfaction because as soon as I stopped using it, the pimples returned with a vengeance! Below are the products I use to maintain clear skin (which can all be purchased at Target).

Disclaimer:  Everything that works for me will not necessarily work for you. This is more of a guide for you to find the best skin care products that will have your skin feeling refreshed.

DAILY CLEANSING/HYGIENE

IMG_3540-1These are my current holy grail products I use to keep my face looking nice and supple.face wash face I am huge fan of Aveeno products because it gets the job done without being so harsh and abrasive. Depending on the day I switch between using the foaming cleanser and the daily cleansing pads. I use the pads 2-3 times a week to avoid over exfoliating my face.

Helpful tip: before washing your face, make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly to avoid lathering the wash with dirt from your hands from the day

IMG_3515-1After washing my face, I use Ponds Dry Skin Cream to moisturize. Although I have combination-oily skin, I have found that this particular moisturizer works really well with my skin. It doesn’t clog my pores and leaves it look vibrant and refreshed. I use this cream every day & night.

IMG_3536-1 IMG_3529-1 IMG_3522-1 Every week I like to use a mask to lift any dead skin cells and to unclog my pores. I use deep cleansing aloe vera mask and clarifying cucumber mask from Que Bella. Aloe Vera and Cucumber are very soothing ingredients and are especially great for sensitive skin.

IMG_3537-1 IMG_3538-1If I wore makeup that day, it is especially important to use makeup wipes to remove as much of the makeup from your face as possible before going in with a wash. I use wipes that are not heavily scented and are specifically meant for sensitive skin, like these cleansing facial wipes by Target brand, up&up. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT SLEEP WITH MAKEUP ON!

WATER INTAKE

I usually have major breakouts when I am overly stressed or my diet is out of whack. So my first major piece of advice is to DRINK WATER. I take my reusable water bottle with me to school/work. I try to refill it at least twice while I’m on campus and then one more time once I get home. If I am going out to eat at a restaurant, I always order a glass of water instead of a soda/juice. I save money, and it’s good for me: win win! I used to not like drinking water but I had to force myself for the sake of my skin. If you find it hard to drink water, you can use Crystal Light flavor packets to help you out but plain ole water is always the best.
