Denim Skirt + Gold Tank

I tend to look at social media as a gift and a curse. It has its opportune moments for allowing us as creatives to really grow our network and showcase our work. But it can also be extremely debilitating if you let it. With the former, I had the opportunity to meet up with a fellow blogger this past weekend that I’ve been following for awhile.denim skirt outfit denim skirt outfit look-12-24-1 I wore this casual button down denim skirt look for an art show we were supposed to attend. Except we couldn’t figure out the directions lol. But besides that point, it was so great meeting her and actually getting to know the person behind the screen.denim skirt outfit look-12-22-1 ego official lace up heelsdenim skirt

With everything that has happened in the past couple of months, I have laser focus on being as authentic as I can be. As a blogger, there’s more to our lives that snapping pictures and uploading them (although, it’s hard work yall!). We are human beings, with real feelings, frustrations, emotions, the whole nine. Especially when it comes to social media, there’s a tendency to look at someone’s feed and think that their life is perfect. No matter how much we tell ourselves that they are only showing us the highlight reel, we still get this feeling.denim skirt outfit denim skirt denim skirt outfit

Which is why I’m such a big proponent of being a wee bit transparent. I understand that not everyone wants to share their life on their platforms. But to be honest, as the blogger that I met up with mentioned, it almost comes with the territory. Now, don’t go sharing every single detail of your life. But sometimes opening up can potentially help someone in a way you never thought. In all, social media has brought me in contact with some pretty dope humans. But I will admit that it has caused me to be a bit over critical of myself. I’ve given myself boundaries on how I handle the latter: not checking it when I first wake up in the morning, not scrolling through majority of the day, etc.
