There are a number of different must have tools for content creation that have become integral to my work as an influencer and content creator. Continue reading for a breakdown, from camera to software to equipment, I’m sharing it all!
First things first, the equipment that I use. This really is the bread and butter of how I create most of my content so it only makes sense that it should come first.
Camera Body: I currently use the Canon EOS Rebel SL3 body as my camera of choice. It’s affordable (relative to most other camera) and it’s lightweight, so I can carry it around with me as a vlog camera as well. iIt has WiFi capabilities and is also touch screen. For the price, it’s a really great camera and gets the job done for both photo and video content.
Lens: The 18 – 35mm Sigma Lens is a recent purchase during quarantine. I wanted a newer lens for video and photo content that I create on my own. This lens tends to go on sale every once in a while so when it went on sale, I hopped on it! It’s a great mid level lens that gives me good quality especially on beauty videos. This is the lens used for the photos in this post as well!
SD Card: Do yourself a favor and get an SD card with a lot of memory. It’ll save you time, effort, and frustration. Also, I would recommend having two SD cards. One for video content and one for photo content. Just helps to keep things streamlined.
iPhone and Macbook SD Card Reader: I have Apple products so my currently laptop does not have USB ports. The SD card reader makes it 10x easier to transfer and is a much cheaper alternative. The phone reader makes it easer to transfer photos on the go, especially if you’re wanting to post in the moment. If you ever shoot with a friend and need the photos ASAP, this also comes in handy.
Camera Tripod: This is just as important as your camera. You want to invest in one that is sturdy enough to hold up your camera and can be knocked around without it getting damaged.
Phone Tripod: This is a piece of equipment that’s become much more of a staple for me because there are parts of my content that I do solely on my phone (for TikTok and Snapchat, specifically).
Ring Light: This is great lighting for my YouTube videos and my beauty and fashion reels. The setting can be adjusted to warm or cool and can go very bright to just a dim light.
TOP APPS FOR CREATING ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Now that we got the heavy duty stuff out the way, let’s move on to the things you actually need to bring your creativity to life!
Lightroom: I use this when I need more editing capabilities than the Lightroom app but not as extensive as Photoshop. To me, it’s the perfect in between and with the Adobe Creative cloud, it’s all in one place.
Photoshop: When I want to get a bit more artistic with my photos, I like to use Photoshop. I have the Adobe Creative Cloud where I pay $20 a month for Photoshop and Lightroom on my Desktop. It’s super convenient and is actually fairly quick to learn.
Adobe Premiere Pro: This was my video editing software of choice for my YouTube content before I hired an editor. But I do still use it to do some minor cleaning up of any videos I create before sending off to the editor to fully edit. With Premier Pro, you pay $21/month to include it in your Adobe Creative Cloud.
PayPal: This is what I use to generate invoices for completed sponsored content. It allows me to keep a running history of what invoices I have sent and payment I have made for other services (like paying my YT editor).
TubeBuddy: For YouTube videos, this plug in is AMAZING! It allows you to figure out what tags would work best for your content, while also providing different ways to optimize your videos to make sure they perform well. I currently pay for the premium version which is only $9/month.
Canon Wireless Remote App: This app allows me to connect my phone to my camera on a WiFi signal and use my phone as a remote control. Extremely helpful for self shooting!
And there you have it. My must have tools for content creation. I hope that you found this helpful. This in depth breakdown gives you a glimmer into all the work that goes into creating good content!
Until next time…
