I love birthdays. My birthday to be specific. I really do enjoy celebrating it with my family and close friends. Especially now after my mom passed, they have become that much more sentimental to me because every year is a reminder that I have made it. That although this physical life isn’t always guaranteed, I am still here, breathing. And that in itself deserves a celebration! Garden Themed Birthday Brunch
This year, I would say that I did a lot. I feel like I’m always a bit hesitant to do “too much” on the birthday’s that aren’t milestones (21, 30, etc.) buuuuttt life is short and look, I love putting little events together so why wait until those milestone birthdays or moments.
I wrapped up the festivities with an intimate garden themed birthday brunch with my family and close friends. It was everything that I hoped it would be after about a month of planning. A garden brunch can sound a bit “bridal shower” but to me, I knew that I could make it feel more like a birthday bash. The day was beautiful, the sun was SHINING, and overall, I truly enjoy spending time with everyone who came to celebrate with me, my tribe.
My first piece of advice when planning something like this: BUDGET! You want to make sure that you are being reasonable and finding deals in places that you’d least expect. Although there were additional elements I wanted to incorporate into the day, it was out of my budget so I had to pass. Do your RESEARCH to make sure that you are getting the best deal as well.
I really wanted something that encapsulated the garden element. I utilized Peerspace to search for a venue and came across Jonnie’s venue which was THE PERFECT BACKDROP for the brunch. From the pictures, I could tell it would be just enough space for my 18 guests along with the opportunity to set up a cute photo area (obviously). Not to mention, it was reasonably priced and in a very convenient location to my apartment.
VENDORS
Since the venue didn’t come with tables or seating, I had to order those with an outside vendor (Peerspace actually does offer vendors with an additional fee once you complete your booking). I went with Party Unlimited, which is a very reasonably priced rental spot for tables, chairs, linens, and much more. I ordered 3 8′ x 30′ tables which was the perfect amount for seating 19 people. The chairs for guests were the Grade A Folded Padded Resin Chairs, and I ordered a Wooden Bamboo Chair, for myself. I went with Hunter Green table lines and white napkins.
For the table setting, I found everything on Amazon! The color scheme I was going for was green and pink tones, so I ordered these white/rose gold plates (super sturdy), rose gold cutlery, plastic stemless wine glasses, and acrylic name tags so everyone knew where they would be sitting. The name tags was a hit and everyone took theirs home, which is what I hoped for, so money well spent! My guest were greeted by a set of number balloons at the entryway of the backyard. You can’t have brunch without Mimosas, so I found a cute little mimosa sign, also on Amazon and had my friends and family partake in their own mimosa cocktail. All my guest received a gift bag that had my favorite wine, Moscato, and one of my favorite skincare products: Green Clean by Farmacy (thank you to the Farmacy team for sponsoring the products)!
For food, I ordered from Heirloom LA through EZCater which I stumbled across on a Google Search. It was super convenient to order through there and didn’t take long at all. They have a plethora of food caterers, broken down by category and food type, so more than likely, you’ll find something you like. The chicken apple sausage was BOMB! And my guests loved the french toast and blueberry maple glaze that it came with.
Overall, I had the best time and truly enjoyed planning this. I hope this was helpful for you too! I’m already thinking about what I’m going to do for my 29th and I have a pretty solid idea of what I’ll be doing for my 30th. Can’t wait!
Until next time…
