It’s about that time you being updating your closet for fall. Even though some areas are still experiencing a heat wave (cough cough…LA!), as we slowly move into September, the cooler temps will be making its way back into our hearts. Fall is one of my favorite seasons to dress up in. Not too hot, not too cold. and it’s a neutral haven! I’m sharing all the ways on how to update your closet for the fall so that you’re ready to slay the season!
Blazers are hands down one of my favorite pieces of clothing. It’s just one of those pieces that is extremely versatile and works in a variety of ways. Although blazers can be worn year round, I find that they truly thrive in the Fall. Since the weather is just right, the blazer will provide just enough level of warmth without burning you up and still keeping you feeling cool. I recently picked up this white linen blazer from H&M and I’m so excited for all the ways I’ll be able to style it.
Depending on the style, shorts can definitely be more on the spring/summer side of style, but a pair of Bermuda shorts that hit right at the knee or below are perfect for Fall. They can be paired with tall boots for a fully covered look, sheer stockings for when it hits late fall/early winter, or you can keep the legs bare and rock a pair of statement sandals for that transition look.
Trench coats are such an underrated gem when it comes to outerwear. It’s truly one of those pieces that can help elevate a look very easily and add a good amount of dimension. Like the blazer, there are options that are lightweight enough to help you transition to fall, and others that are more heavier once the weather really cools down. This is a perfect stepping stone before we reach camel coat season.

A sturdy pair of black ankle boots will be your best friend as you transition into the Fall season. These are a dime a dozen and can be found just about anywhere in a variety of different styles. When it comes to ankle boots, I like to keep things simple and stick with black. I have a nice amount of them currently in my wardrobe waiting for the dust to be wiped off of them, like my Doc Marten Jadons, but this Gucci pair is on my list to buy as soon as the temperatures drop.
While you may not need to bust out the turtlenecks just yet, investing in a few tanks that are thicker side will do you good! These knit tanks from Aritzia have been a fave of mine recently. Although they can be worn year round, I do find that it does keep me pretty insulated. I’m wearing the white cropped version in these photos. A knit tank is a good transition piece and can eventually be used as a layering piece when the weather gets cooler.
What I’m Wearing: H&M Blazer, Aritzia Tank, Zara Shorts (sold out, similar), Vince Camuto Heels, Jacquemus Le Grand Chiquito Bag
Hope you find this list helpful as you begin updating your closet for the Fall! Until next time…
